Quentin’s 15 years of experience in the commercial construction industry has included scheduling, project management, estimating, contract negotiations, sales, marketing, and business development.
Quentin grew up in Wichita and participated in the family business from an early age. He graduated from Kansas State University with a degree in Construction Science and Management, and moved back to Wichita to start his career in 2000 with Hutton Construction.
Quentin’s first role was project engineer which entailed assisting the project managers and superintendents in all aspects of the of the commercial construction process. During this time he was exposed to multiple projects, owners, architects and building types.
In 2003 Hutton Construction asked Quentin to be the on-site project manager for a new hospital project in Lubbock, TX. In his new role Quentin solicited subcontract and supplier proposals, developed and managed the project schedule, facilitated daily and weekly project meetings, reviewed and approved all submittals and change orders, and was the satellite office for the duration of the project. The 99,600 SF specialty hospital was completed under budget in 8 months.
When Quentin returned to the home office in 2004 he was promoted to project manager. During the next 5 years he managed projects throughout the midwest that ranged in size from $250,000 to $23,500,000. His project management duties included estimating, scheduling, owner and architect relations, procurement, and closeout.
In 2009 Quentin changed hats and began his role in business development. By 2011 he was promoted to Vice President of Business Development. The new role included the management of the sales pipeline, backlog curve, marketing, and pre-construction services. During this time Hutton Construction experience steady profitable growth in multiple market sectors.
Quentin didn’t realize when we accepted the opportunity to relocate to Lubbock, TX it would not only change his professional career, but his personal life as well. He met is bride Amy, who was attending Texas Tech at the time, during his 8 months in Lubbock. They now have three children Griffin, Quinn, and Piper that keep them on their toes. In their free time the family enjoys swimming, boating, and attending youth sporting events.
